Green Limerick is a local initiative established to create a platform for all green and sustainable projects in Limerick City and its surrounding areas. The aim of Green Limerick is to encourage co–operation amongst local green businesses and initiatives to build community cohesion and establish Limerick City as Ireland’s sustainable capital.
On the 18th of April Green Limerick is hosting Limerick City’s first sustainability event in the Belltable Arts Centre on O’Connell Street, from 2pm to 10pm. Come along to this informative and fun event for the entire family. Green Limerick community event is open for everyone interested in creating a more positive and sustainable Limerick.
Ongoing lectures and discussions will be held throughout the afternoon covering a broad range of green topics such as renewable energy; green cities; organic foods; community allotments; and bee keeping.
Green Business presently trading within the Green economy will also be on hand to answer questions on their innovative green technology and the green economy in general. Green businesses present on the day will include energy auditors; renewable energy consultants; a waste managegement business; carbon traders; Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Cultivate, organic food producers and seed savers
At 8pm a final presentation entitled ‘Community Resilience and the Green Economy’, will be given by Davie Philip a founding member of the Ecovillage in Cloughjordan and of Cultivate, the company running the Green Works programme. Green Works delivers free training in the green economy and with Green Limerick are hosting two courses in Limerick in May. This presentation will be followed by a facilitated open discussion on a Green Limerick
