Green Party candidate Sheila Cahill issues Valentine’s Day call for Limerick to become “Civil Partnerships Capital of Ireland”

The Green Party candidate in Limerick City, Sheila Cahill, has issued a call on Valentine’s Day for Limerick to become the Civil Partnerships Capital of Ireland.
“The Green Party introduced civil partnerships for same-sex couples in Ireland. Limerick has an opportunity to show that it is a tolerant and forward looking city by launching a campaign to make us the top destination in Ireland for civil partnership ceremonies”, said Sheila. “Such a move would not only promote Limerick’s reputation as a city where diversity is celebrated, but would also result in significant income for businesses in the city”.
“If elected I would campaign for gay marriage and for same-sex couples to be afforded the same rights as heterosexual couples”, concluded Sheila.
